Blues eNewsCapital Area Blues Society E Letter: February 16, 2012 compiled for CABS by Gordzilla CABS MEETINGS: Second Monday of each Month Capital Area Blues Society Annual Election Results The annual general meeting and election for the office of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Board members was conducted on Monday February 13, 2012. This annual meeting and election was conducted in accordance with the by-laws of the Capital Area Blues Society. An annual meeting and election must be conducted once per year. Election Results: Officers: Mike Skory, President; Denise Lynch, Vice President; Cathy Dionise, Secretary; James Flynn, Treasurer Board Members (including officers): Steve “Frog” Forgey; Dave Lindahl; Bill Malone; Bill Richards; Magan Tagarelli; Ben Godoshian, new board member; Dudley Smith (Smitty), new board member. Vice President Jo Phelps has stepped down from her office of Vice President to attend to other matters. We appreciate her dedication and loyalty. Thank you Jo! Denise Lynch is the new vice president of CABS. MARDI GRAS IN MICHIGAN Join us on February 26th at the Riviera Theatre in Three Rivers for the "Mardi Gras in Michigan Blues Extravaganza!!!" This event will feature the 2011 CABS Blues Brawl winner "The Hoopties w/ Twyla Birdsong", "The Bosco-Gee Blues Band w/ Martila Sanders" and KVBA 2011 Blues Competition Winner "Crossroads, The Resurrection". In addition a free Cajun Buffet, courtesy of the Riviera Theatre and the KVBA! Cash Bar, 50/50 drawings and prizes. Doors open at 4:00 PM Showtime at 6:00 and a special All Star Jam to close the show! Advance Tickets are available but not necessary; tickets available at the door. Tickets are only $8.00 or your KVBA Second Sunday Series pass will be honored for this show. Help us raise funds to make the 19th annual Kalamazoo Blues Festival another GREAT one! Paul Eagle Benefit on Sunday, February 19, 2012 A benefit concert featuring several performers from the Kalamazoo area is scheduled for Sunday, February 19, at the 411 Club in Kalamazoo. All funds raised will go to help defray medical expenses for Paul Eagle, a long-standing member of Kalamazoo’s music scene and a major force behind the Kalamazoo Blues Festival and other musical events. Details: Featuring 5 Great Bands: Sunday, February 19, 2012. Time: 3 to 7 p.m. The 411 Club, Kalamazoo, MI.
